Berea Sweeps Agnes Scott at Home

Berea (11-19, 3-9 USAS), Agnes Scott (5-25, 2-10 USAS)

 

Game 1- Berea 10, Agnes Scott 8

The Scotties started out the game strong scoring four runs in the first inning. The Scotties added on two more runs in the third inning which had them leading the Mountaineers by six runs. The Mountaineers started chipping away in the bottom of the third inning, Spencer singled followed by Howards double. Nash singled soon afterwards, scoring Spencer and Howard. Nash then scored on an error from a hit by Fallis. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Miller walked followed by Spencer double which scored Miller. In the bottom of the sixth inning Miller and Stanfield got on base, which was followed by a Spencer single, scoring Miller and advancing Stanfield. In the next at-bat, Jacqui Howard hit a homerun scoring three runs to take the lead. Winchester doubled followed by another Mountaineers homerun by Nash. The Scotties tried to fight back scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning. The Mountaineers won 10-8.

The Mountaineers were led by Spencer who had three hits. Howard and Nash each had two hits.

Howard picked up the win in the circle.

 

Game 2- Berea 6, Agnes Scott 5

The Mountaineers came out hot in the beginning of the second game. The Scotties scored one run off of three hits to start out the game. In the bottom of the first inning Spencer and Howard were both hit by pitches to get on base. Winchester SAC bunted to move the runners on base. Nash singled scoring Spencer and Howard. Fallis homered scoring herself and Nash. Hackney doubled and was left on base which ended the inning. The Scotties fought back scoring two runs in the top of the second inning and one run in the top of the third. In the bottom of the fourth inning Spencer singled followed by Howards double which scored Spencer. The Scotties scored another run in the top of the fifth inning tying the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning the Beisecker walked followed by Spencer who singled. Howard SAC bunted to move the runners in scoring position. Winchester hit a SAC fly to score Beisecker. The Scotties were scoreless in the top of the seventh inning. The Mountaineers pulled out the win 6-5.

The Mountaineers were led by Spencer who had three hits followed by Hackney who had two.

Howard took the win in the circle.

 

The Mountaineers are back in action Sunday, April 7th when they travel to play Maryville
