Women’s Basketball Falls to Asbury 81-74

The run and gun basketball offense is typically something germane to the men's game, but today the Asbury University Eagles proved that the ladies can play an up tempo style as well.  The Eagles took 102 shots from the field in the Championship Game of the women's portion of the Zweifel/Pritchett Classic.  Those 102 shots included 31 from long range, add in 17 free-throw attempts, and the Mountaineers had their hands full.

Johnesha Warren played all 40 minutes of the contest, while the Mountaineers only went two deep into its bench.  One of those two was Rayven Shead.  The freshman forward from Louisville was nearly unstoppable scoring 30 and hauling in 10 boards.  Shead was 13-17 from the floor and 4-7 from the charity stripe.  Jamie Roberts was the other player off the bench for the Blue Crew and she showed her worth, contributing 15 points to match Warren's 15.

The ladies will be concentrating on fall semester, final exams this week before they travel to Indiana-Kokomo on Saturday for a 1:00 pm match-up with the Cougars.
