Women’s Basketball Rolls Over UC-Clermont

The Mountaineers (6-5) were unaffected by the frigid temperatures outside of the "Cougar Dome" on Wednesday night as they took on fellow USCAA member UC-Clermont.  BC is currently ranked #7 in the USCAA Division I Coaches Poll, while the Cougars are the defending USCAA Division II National Champions.  It had the makings of a clash of titans, however it was never close.

The Blue Crew's shooting was red-hot, especially in the first half as they knocked down 60% of their shots including going 4 for 9 behind the 3-point arc; all the while dominating the glass.  The score at the half was 54-29.

The second half saw the Cougars improve their shooting and actually played even with the Mountaineers, but the damage was already done.  BC continued to use its athleticism to move to ball at a pace that the Cougars couldn't match.  The Cougars would often find themselves seeing a BC player pull down a defensive rebound, then make a half court pass to a streaking teammate.

Freshman Jamie Roberts had the hottest hand as she went 4 for 9 from long distance and racked up 24 points.  Adriana Williams went 7 for 10 from the field to record 17 points.  Freshman, Alexus Calhoun notched another double-double, as she corralled 14 rebounds to go with 13 points; while Zacchea Small and Anna Loveless also added 13 each.  Johnesha Warren was the final Mountaineer in double figures, as the senior ran the offense and collected seven assists, while scoring 10 points.

The ladies have now won five of their last six games and they will look to continue that hot play on Saturday, January 10, when they host Wilberforce University at 1:00 pm in the Seabury Center.
