Women’s Basketball Winning Streak Ends at Lindsey Wilson

The Mountaineers (7-6) entire night at Lindsey Wilson College (14-4) may have been summed up by their first possession of the evening – a blocked shot, defensive rebound, missed 3-pointer, offensive rebound, missed follow, offensive rebound, missed follow and finally an LWC defensive rebound leading to the first points of the game.

That frustrating combination of outstanding defensive play, proper positioning and then missed offensive opportunities would continue throughout the night as the three game Mountaineer winning streak came to an end.

BC would take the lead at the 14:34 mark when Johnesha Warren intercepted a LWC pass, and quickly drove the length the floor and scored making it 10-8 Blue Crew.  Then a pair of BC turnovers led to the to a 21-4 LWC run that would put BC behind for the remainder of the game.  A Jamie Roberts 3-pointer followed by a basketball by Warren would cut the lead to just 10 points at the half.

Berea would start the second half with five missed shots and three turnovers – and with that, the only question remaining would be the final score and statistics.  The Blue Crew would cut the lead to 11 late in the game, but LWC would make its free-throws down the stretch to earn their 14 win of the season.

Roberts was stellar off the bench scoring a team high 17 points, going 3 for 10 from behind the arc and 6 for 7 from the charity stripe.  Warren would score 16 points on 8 of 11 shooting and lead the team with six assists.  Adriana Williams would contribute 10 points and lead the team with six steals.

The ladies will be back in action on Monday, January 19 when they travel down to Barbourville, to take Union College.
