#7 Mountaineers Fall on Road Against Indiana University Southeast

New Albany, IN- The #7 Berea women's basketball team returned to the court this evening as they traveled to New Albany, IN to play former KIAC foe Indiana University Southeast. The team looked to walk off the court with their fourth straight win.

Sophomore Kiley Barnard started the scoring off for the Mountaineers as her basket made the score 3-2 in favor of Southeast. A 17-4 run by the Grenadiers was ended by junior Jaime Roberts three-point basket to make the score 20-9 with 2:17 left in the first quarter. A three-point basket by sophomore Kelsey Tippitt made the deficit faced by Berea 23-12 as the second quarter began.

The first seven points of the quarter went in favor of Southeast as the shooting woes continued for the Mountaineers, making the score 30-12. The ball fell through the net for Berea as the time ticked off the clock though, as baskets from sophomore Bethanie Williams, Tippitt and freshman Kristin Barnes pushed the halftime score to 41-25.

The Mountaineers came out of the locker room looking to get back into the game, scoring the first four points from baskets by freshman Bri Lanham and junior Zacchea Small to cut the deficit to 12, 41-29. The team would be unable to rally any closer though as 20 turnovers throughout the game and 34.3% shooting for the game allowed the Grenadiers to walk off the court with a 82-62 win.

Offensively for Berea, Lanham finished with a team-high 15 points while Tippitt finished with 10 points. Lanham also finished with a team-high nine rebounds. Barnes and Barnard finished tied for the lead in assists with three.

Berea (5-3) continues their road trip as they travel to Sewanee, TN to take on the Sewanee Tigers (2-5). Live video and stats can be found here for the 3:00 PM tip-off.
