Women's Basketball Goes 1-1 in Weekend Conference Play

Lookout Mountain, GA/Macon, GA- The women's basketball team hit the road this weekend to play in two conference games.  In the first game the Mountaineers fell to the Scots of Covenant 71-64.  In the second game Berea took the floor against the Wesleyan College Wolves.  Berea defeated the Wolves by a score of 78-46.  These games put the Mountaineers at 1-1 in conference play and 4-1 overall.  

The Mountaineers jumped out to a 35-28 halftime lead on the Scots.  Heading into the fourth quarter Berea continued to hold the lead but a fourth quarter rally led the Scots to outscore Berea 24-13 and get the 71-64 win over the Mountaineers. Adriana Williams led the Mountaineers with 24 points.  Kirsten Barnes added 12 points.  Bri Lanham led Berea under the glass pulling down 7 rebounds. 

In the second game of the weekend the Mountaineers took the floor against the Wolves of Wesleyan College.  Berea controlled the entire game and headed to halftime with a 40-22 point led against the Wolves.  The Mountaineers did not show any signs of slowing down and outscored Wesleyan 38-24 in the second half to run away with a 78-46 win over the Wolves.  The Mountaineers were led this game by Bri Lanham who scored 15 points.  Two other Mountaineers scored in the double digits with Kelsey Tippitt and Jamie Roberts each scoring 10 points.  Isis Hill recorded 3 blocks and rebounds were led by Zacchea Small with 7. 

The women's team returns to action at home taking on Asbury this Monday, December 4th at 6:00pm.
