Berea Increases Win Streak to 10

BEREA, KY- The women's basketball team started a three game home stand taking on former NAIA opponent Kentucky Christian University. The Mountaineers shot 46.3% from the field and 43.3% from behind the arch in a win over the overpowered Knights 72-65. The win was Berea's 10th straight and the Mountaineers are now 14-2 and 6-1 in conference play.

Berea started off slow which saw them trailing the Knights 16-12 after the first quarter. The Mountaineers fought hard in the second quarter, making seven straight shots to spur a run that would end up giving them the lead. Going into the half, The Mountaineers held a strong 42-25 lead.

The second half was all Mountaineers. Hot shooting Berea came out of the third quarter leading 66-42. The Mountaineers held strong in the fourth to take the win 89-62.

The Mountaineers were led by Kiley Barnard and Kristen Barnes who has 16 points and 2 rebounds a piece, and Bri Lanham added 14 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds.

Berea College will be back in action at the Seabury Center this upcoming Saturday, January 27th, against USA South Conference opponent Huntingdon College. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
