Mountaineers Go 2-0 On the Road

Decatur, GA/Brevard, NC- The Berea College women's basketball team headed out this weekend to play in two conference games on the road.  The Mountaineers were successful in both their games defeating Agnes Scott 75-46 and then beating Brevard 78-46.  These wins bring Berea to 18-3 and 9-2 in conference play.  The Mountaineers are also 9-1 on the road this year. 

In the first game Berea jumped out to a 35-20 lead heading into the half.  The Mountaineers continued to hold the momentum and ran away with the 75-46 win.  Berea shot 35.6% from the field and 59.3 from behind the arc.  Briana Lanham led the Mountaineers with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals.  Adriana Williams also scored in the double-digits with 16 points and 7 assists. 

The second game went much like the first with Berea jumping out to a large halftime lead.  This time the Mountaineers headed to the locker room with a 41-23 lead.   Berea came out firing in the third quarter dropping 21 points.  Berea went on to defeat Brevard 78-46.  The Mountaineers shot an impressive 50.8% from the field.  Briana Lanham led the Mountaineers again with 16 points.  Four other Mountaineers scored in the double-digits.  Kelsey Tippitt had 13, Marley Lawson with 12, Adriana Williams added 11 and Nakeisha Greene finished with 10.  Greene also led Berea under the glass pulling in 9 rebounds. 

The Mountaineers will be back in action at home on Tuesday, February 6th taking on the Scots of Maryville College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
