Lookout Mountain, GA- The women's soccer team went to the pitch for their first game of the 2017 season this afternoon against an opponent they will get used to seeing a lot in the future. The team played against USA South West Division opponent Covenant College, though today's game against the Scots will not count towards the team's conference standings. The two teams meet later in the season for a game which goes against each team's league record.

The visiting Mountaineers could not get their offense moving as Covenant controlled the ball for the majority of the half. The possession of the ball by the Scots helped them take a 4-0 advantage as the buzzer rang for halftime. Berea came out of the intermission more defensively focused, as they only gave up one goal in the second half. The offense for the Mountaineers was unable to pick up its intensity as Covenant went on to win the game by a final score of 5-0. Goalkeeper Amber Follin had had 11 saves on 16 shots on goal.

The team will go back on the road as they travel to Midway College on Tuesday in search of their first win. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
