Maryville, TN- Berea played their first ever USA South conference game tonight in women's soccer, as the team played the Maryville College Scots, a divisional opponent. The game was played on the road as the Mountaineers traveled to Maryville, TN.

The game saw Maryville take control of the game early as the ball stayed in Berea's defensive half of the field for the opening segments of the contest. Goalkeeper Amber Follin for the Mountaineers kept the Scots out of the net though, as she saved 12 of 15 shots on goal. Maryville got on the scoreboard though in the 30th minute of the game. Two more goals helped the Scots take a 3-0 advantage as the teams went to the halftime break.

The momentum stayed on the side of Maryville as the teams came out of the intermission. Berea's possession of the ball was not turning into offensive opportunities as the Scots continued taking shots on the Mountaineers. A five minute stretch in the second half saw Maryville score five goals to turn a 3-0 Berea deficit into an 8-0 advantage for the Scots, a lead the Blue Crew were unable to overcome, dropping their first conference game by the same margin. Follin had an impressive 19 saves on 27 shots on goal.

Berea stays on the road for their next contest, this time traveling to Richmond, IN to take on Earlham College.
