Mountaineers Conclude Two-Day Road Trip Falling at Piedmont College

Demorest, GA- The women's soccer team concluded a two-day, two-game road trip this afternoon. Today's game came against the Piedmont College Lions, leaders of the USA South West division.

A shot by Stefany Reyes which ended up being saved by the opposing keeper gave Berea a chance at taking the first lead in the game but a goal a minute later by Piedmont gave them a 1-0 advantage. The deficit the Mountaineers faced had moved out to 3-0 as Sohara Perez pushed a shot wide trying to cut into the lead. Madilyn Hord tried sneaking a ball past the keeper but it was saved as the Mountaineers went into the intermission trailing 5-0.

Berea was unable to turn many of their possessions into scoring opportunities in the second half until a flurry of shots in the middle of the half. Following a shot by Perez which went wide, Hord had a second chance to put a ball in the net but her shot hit the post before being kicked out of bounds by a Piedmont defender. The following corner kick by Sierra Massucco did not produce a shot and the Mountaineers went on to fall by a final score of 8-0. Perez and Hord each finished with two shots while Reyes finished the game with one shot. Amber Follin played the whole game in the net for the visiting Blue Crew and finished with 13 saves, including a save on a penalty kick, on 21 shots on goal.

Berea comes back to the Berea College Sports Complex for their regular season finale, also honoring their seniors during the game which serves as Senior Night. The contest comes against another newcomer to the USA South Athletic Conference, Brevard College. Brevard is reclassifying from NCAA Division II to Division III, making them ineligible to compete for conference championships, meaning the game will not go against either team's conference record. The game is scheduled to kick off at 2:00 PM on Saturday and the information on how to follow the game live can be found at the official site for Berea College Athletics, www.bereaathletics.com.
