Women's Soccer Falls to Brevard College on Senior Day

Berea, KY- Today was Senior Day down at the Berea College Sports Complex as the women's soccer team saluted seniors Caitlin Taulbee, Anna Hall, Mayra Macias and Lillian Setters  and thanked them for their time on the field. The game was against the Brevard College Tornados, a newcomer to USA South and a team reclassifying to NCAA Division III, meaning today's game had no impact on conference standings.

Brevard took control of the match early as they took multiple shots in the opening minutes but the combination of goalkeeper Amber Follin and the defense prevented the visitors from getting in the net. Berea was able to grab their footing as their threat on the offensive end resulted in a corner kick as the game was scoreless. Sierra Massucco's kick did not result in a goal and the Tornados scored a goal in the 31st minute to make the Mountaineers head into the half trailing 1-0.

A goal two minutes into the second half pushed the deficit to 2-0 as Berea searched for a way to cut the lead. A chance came at the 55:38 mark as the Mountaineers forced a corner kick, but the Massucco kick did not find a way into the back of the net. Two shots by Madilyn Hord fell short of pay dirt and Berea went on to fall to Brevard 3-0. Follin recorded eight saves on 11 shots on goal. Hord finished with two shots for the Mountaineers.

Berea will play their final game of the season tomorrow afternoon. The finale is a scheduled make-up game against Oakland City University, a game which was postponed because of rain making the field unplayable. First touch is scheduled for 1:00 PM and information on how to follow all the action live can be found at the official site of Berea College Athletics, www.bereaathletics.com.
