Berea. KY- The Berea women's soccer team hosted Midway University Tuesday at the Berea Sports Complex. The Mountaineers had an extremely close game against the Eagles, but Berea fell short and Midway held on to take the 2-1 win. Mountaineer goalie Jade Fulkerson finished with five saves in the loss and Alanis Daugherty scored the lone goal for Berea.

It was a slow start for both teams, but play soon picked up. At the 15:54 minute mark, Daughtery scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Sohara Perez. Midway soon responded at the 26:24 minute mark, with Alexis Little scoring to knot the game back up. Battling for possession in the field, neither team was giving in. However, at the 41:55 minute mark, Taylor Harley found the back of the net to score the second goal for Midway, with an assist from Madeline Hargrove and take the 2-1 lead into halftime.

The second half was a hard fought battle for possession between the teams. Berea maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the game. However, Midway's goalie Alexandria Klimek would not allow Berea to have the offensive breakthrough that the Mountaineers needed. The two teams continued the back and forth play, but neither of them giving ground and the second half ended with a final score of 2-1.

Berea outshot Midway 18-16, but they were down 3-1 in corner kicks.
