BEREA, KY., Women's soccer lost to Earlham College 3-2 in the 2019-2020 season home opener. The Mountaineers scored two goals in the 2nd half to tie the game 2-2, but ultimately conceded the final goal to the Quakers to lose 3-2.

The 1st half looked as though the Quakers were going to dominate the game. The Quakers took 9 shots in the half and only allowed the Mountaineers to shoot 4. Earlham scored early, scoring in 2nd minute of the game off of a goal by Hannah Wallhausser. They then added an insurance goal in the 17th minute of the 2nd half from a right-footed shot by Eva Lyon.

In the 2nd half, the Mountaineers looked like a complete different team. Pushing the ball instead of playing behind the ball, the Mountaineers began their relentless attack on the Quakers. This allowed for the Mountaineers to outshoot the Quakers 10-8 in the half. The Mountaineers started the scoring with a shot outside of the box by Senior Madilyn Hord that went in to make the score 2-1 in the 50th minute. Then 4 minutes later in the 54th minute, Hord crossed to Sophomore Bailee Vanover, in which she headed the ball into the back of the net to tie the game 2-2. Unfortunately, in the 68th minute, the Mountaineers would concede the game winning goal to Earlham's Jenna Hoeh.

Goalkeeper Jade Fulkerson had 7 saves in the game.

The Mountaineers will be back in action this Saturday against Midway College.
