Berea Drops Home Game Against Marietta

Berea, KY- The Berea women's soccer team hosted Marietta College on Wednesday, September 18. The Pioneers earned a shutout over the Mountaineers 3-0, denying them a home win.

In the beginning of the first half, Berea started out strong with great possession. The Mountaineers dominated the first part of the half, keeping the Pioneers at bay. However, at the 24:21 minute mark, Marietta's France Moise scored the first goal and put Berea at a disadvantage. Berea denied any more scoring opportunities to their opponents, but were unable to execute any goals of their own. They were able to hold their opponents to one goal for the rest of the half up until the 44:42 minute mark, when Chloe Williams scored the second goal for Marietta with an assist from Amelia Thompson. This put their lead against Berea 2-0 at the end of the half.

In the second half Berea started off strong, ready to attack offensively against their opponents. They held the Pioneers from scoring, while getting some shots off of their own. Unfortunately the Mountaineers were unable to score despite their tremendous effort. At the 60:05 minute mark, Kayla Tomlin from Marietta scored their third goal with an assist from Amelia Thompson. The Mountaineers fought for rest of the game, but were unable to come back in the end. The second half ended 3-0 with the Pioneers taking home the win.

Berea's Jade Fulkerson had 7 saves, Marietta's Katie Delaney had 3.

Marietta had 19 shots versus Berea's 7, and Marietta had a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks.
