Berea, KY- On Tuesday, October 1st the Mountaineers hosted Maryville College for another chance at a conference win. However, The Scots took home the conference win against Berea, winning the game 7-0.

In the first half, Berea worked the ball on their opponents half of the field to begin the game. However, they lost the ball on their half to a free kick taking place at the 7:10 minute mark, where Maryville's Jenna Clothier scored the first goal. The Mountaineers regrouped and continued to play their game, but at the 14:51 minute mark Scots' Macey Lindsey scored with an assist from Shannon Reagan. Berea now down 2-0, picked up their intensity to try and prevent any more goals from their opponents. They were successful up until the 33:14 minute mark when Shannon Reagan scored with an assist from Lindsey Lewallan. The first half ended with the Scots in the lead 3-0.

Going into the second half, Maryville was able to get an early goal at the 49:22 minute mark by Lexie Hill with an assist from Shannon Reagan. Following closely after that was another goal by the Scots at the 51:33 minute mark by Shannon Reagan assisted by Macy Lindsey. Maryville scored another goal at the 54:29 minute mark by Macy Lindsey. This put the Scots ahead of Berea 6-0. Soon after that, at the 56:39 minute mark, Maryville earned a penalty kick and Shannon Reagan converted the penalty kick to make the score 7-0. For the remainder of the half, the Mountaineers shut down anything else Maryville tried to do. Unfortunately, they were not able to earn any goals back against their opponents and the half ended in a win for the Scots 7-0.

 

Berea's Jade Fulkerson had 9 saves, and Maryville's Spencer Ann Mitchell had 1.

Maryville had 29 shots to Berea's 4, and Maryville had a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Up next, the Mountaineers are traveling October 5-6 to take on two more conference opponents, Wesleyan (GA) on Saturday October 5th  at 12pm, and Piedmont on October 6th at 1pm.
