Demorest, GA- The Mountaineers traveled to Demorest Georgia to take on Piedmont College for another conference game. After a hard fought battle, Berea fell to their opponents 4-1.

In the first half, Berea controlled the ball well against their opponents. They held back Piedmont from scoring for the majority of the half. The Mountaineers hard work and determination finally paid off at the 31:35 minute mark when Bailee Vanover scored with an assist from Stacey Keruwa. Unfortunately, the lead was not maintained for long when the Lions received a penalty kick not long after the goal by Vanover. The kick was converted by Reid Johnson and the half ended in a tie 1-1.

In the second half, Piedmont received a penalty kick early into the half at the 58:09 minute mark. The Lions' Anslyn Stamps took the kick and converted the kick to give Piedmont the lead 2-1. The Mountaineers were able to settle down and play their game for the next several minutes. Through this they were able to take more shots against their opponents, but were just short of a goal. At the 63:49 minute mark, Piedmont had yet another penalty kick, this time taken by Katelyn Smith which she converted to add to the lead to 3-1. Berea fell back into their shape, and tried to get goals back against Piedmont. However, Piedmont was able to sneak another goal at the 75:09 minute mark by Tori Roper with an assist from Madison Hatfield. The half ended in a win for the Lions 4-1.

Berea's Jade Fulkerson had 5 saves, and Piedmont's keepers none.

Piedmont had 19 shots versus Berea's 5, and Piedmont had a 12-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Up next, the Mountaineers will host Covenant College on Thursday, October 10 at 4pm.
