Berea Drops Close Game at Home

Berea,KY- The Mountaineers hosted Covenant College on Thursday, October 10 for another conference game. Berea played well, but were unsuccessful at securing the conference win against their opponents. The Scots took home the conference win against the Mountaineers 4-1.

In the first half, Covenant got an early goal at the 1:32 minute mark. Kyra Duble scored the first goal with an assist from Lizzy Hightower. After the early goal, the Mountaineers held the Scots to a 1-0 lead. Not allowing Covenant to take over the game early. After going back and forth for the rest of the half, the half ended 1-0 with Covenant still in the lead.

In the second half, Berea worked hard and got their goal back at the 62:51 minute mark. Bailee Vanover scored for the Mountaineers and tied up the game. Now tied, Berea picked up the intensity and came out strong against the Scots. Unfortunately, the Mountaineers were unable to hold off the Scots for the remainder of the half. At the 81:56 minute mark, Kailey Burrell scored the second goal for Covenant. Following closely after at the 83:11 minute mark, Kyra Duble scored the third goal with an assist from Addy Cronan. Once more at the 85:02 minute mark, Kailey Burrell scored the fourth goal for the Scots, which put them ahead of Berea 4-1.

 

Berea's Jade Fulkerson had 8 saves, and Covenant's Lucy Sandhoff had 3.

Covenant had 25 shots compared to Berea's 9, and Covenant had a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.

 

Up next, the Mountaineers will travel to play LaGrange College for another conference game on Saturday, October 12 at 12pm.
