Women's Tennis Open Season with a Home Win - Berea College (KY)

Berea, KY - The Berea College Mountaineers kicked off their season with a 6-3 win over Earlham College. Doubles was first up and number 1 seeds and seniors Taylor Moyers and Trinity Goodman put in a strong performance to take that match 8-1. Second seeds Alicia Bedolla and Ashley Ferrell followed suit with a solid 8-3 win. Earlham College took number 3 doubles by default.

Taylor Moyers, playing at number one singles in her last year, started and finished her match in the same manner with strong groundstrokes to see her power past her opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 score. Trinity Goodman also in her senior year and firming up the number two spot followed suit with a strong 6-1, 6-0 win. At number 3 Alicia Bedolla started slow going down 0-3, then found her footing and her ground game to come away with a 6-4. 6-2 win. Ashley Ferrell at number 4 won a long hard fought match with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2 in the tie-break). Bria Williams also in her senior year lost a tough match with several long rallies and points 6-0, 6-2. At number six Earlham College won by default.

Wednesday, September 7^th, 2016 Berea College Women face a tough test against Transylvania University at home at 5:00pm.
