Women's Track and Field Continue Success With 5th Place Finish At Centre

DANVILLE, KY- The women's track team traveled to the Centre Twilight Invitational to round up their regular season. The Mountaineers ended the season with a multitude of personal records and a new school record!  The Ladies finished 5th out of the 13 scoring teams.

The sprint squad brought an end to the season with five PRs. Cassandra McFadden placed 10th in the 100m with a PR of 13.07. She also earned a PR in the 200m with a time of 27.64. Rebecca Dixon came in shortly after with a PR of 27.65, placing 11th. She was followed by Renesha Todd who ran a PR of 29.96. Dixon also earned a PR in the 400m with a time of 1:04.65, placing 2nd.   Annah Pierce placed 6th in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 17.37. Pierce earned another PR in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:14.98, placing 7th.

The distance crew brought more PRs and a school record! Layne Callow placed 4th in the 800m with a PR of 2:18.81. She was followed by Jenna Hughes (2:29.04) and Gabriella Sabino (2:32.14). Megan Hale came in shortly after Sabino with a PR of 2:32.6, placing 12th. Sabino earned her PR in the 1500m with a time of 4:56.26 to bring home 5th place. Erin Gonterman placed 2nd in the 5k, with a time of 18:50.48, breaking the previous school record of 18:50.9 set by Mercy Kershner in 2015

In the triple jump Simone Brown jumped 10.29m, finishing 5th. In the Javelin, Amber "Bre" Sims brought home another first place finish throwing 34.02m. Kayla Santos placed 2nd with a throw and PR of 30.42m.

The evening came to a close with the women's 4x400 relay team running a season best time of 4:13.26.  The team was made up of Layne Callow, Jenna Hughes, Rebecca Dixon and Bre Sims.

Qualifying Mountaineers will travel to New York this Friday, April 29th to compete in the USCAA National Invitational.
