Women's Indoor Track and Field Team Shine at Fred Wilt Invitational

Anderson, IN- The Berea college women's indoor track team wrapped up their season with the Fred Wilt Invitational hosted by NCAA Division III Anderson University.  The women's team saw many personal bests and ended the 2016-2017 season with a great showing.

Berea had a solid showing in the field events with three top 10 showings.  Kierra Moore finished 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 5.00m and Annah Pierce was 9th with a jump of 4.60m.  Allison Dallman soared over 1.47m to finish 7th in the high jump.

Kaylee Robinson led the Sprint group with a fantastic day on the track.  Robinson finished 2nd in the 400m with a time of 1:02.96 and 1st in the 200m with a blazing time of 26.87. In the 60m Alli Silas was the only runner for Berea.  Silas finished 12th with a time of 8.73m.  Silas also finished 11th in the 400m with a time of 1:08.62.  Rebecca Dixson was 7th in the 200m with a time of 28.36 and Annah Pierce finished the 60m Hurdles in a time of 10.38 finishing 5th

The distance crew also came ready to race.  In the 5k senior Gabriella Sabino ran a great race to finish 4th with a time of 19:15.10.  Berea the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the mile.  Jamie Welch was 2nd in a photo finish and time of 5:27.28 and Jenna Hughes running a huge personal best time of 5:34.96 for 3rd.  In the 800m the Mountaineers placed all five of their runners in the top 15.  Senior Megan Hale led the group finishing 4th with a time of 2:30.5.  Jenna Hughes was 5th (2:31.05), Delaney Williams was 8th (2:32.54), Jamie Welch was 9th (2:32.55) and Gabriella Sabino was 11th (2:35.45).  Berea also had a great showing in the 3k with Dove DeNigris leading the way in 2nd place with a time of 11:19.92.  Ivanna Sabino was 5th (11:29.05), Erin Gonterman was 8th (11:43.59), Sydney Kyker was 11th (11:57.40) and Hayley Clark was 12th (12:06.20).

The 4x200m relay team of Rebecca Dixson, Alli Silas, Megan Hale and Kaylee Robinson was 2nd overall with a time of 1:51.57. The 4x400m relay team of Kaylee Robinson, Megan Hale, Delaney Williams and Rebecca Dixson was also 2nd overall with a time of 4:22.00.   

This meet wrapped up the indoor season for the Mountaineers.  They will move onto outdoor track and field on March 18th when they travel to NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne.  The meet is set to start at 10:00am.
