Women's Track and Field Place 4th at the Pioneer Invitational
LEXINGTON, KY – This weekend the Berea College women's Track and Field team traveled up to Lexington Kentucky to complete in the 2017 Transy Pioneer Invitational. During this 2-day meet, Berea's women's team had many high placing finishers that helped the women earn 4th place out of the 10 scoring teams. 

Friday afternoon Berea had many women run the 10,000 meter race on the track. Leading the race, sophomore Dove DeNigris placed 1st and was just shy of the school record, with a time of 40:18,  Following her was freshman Hayley Clark who ran 43:31, placing 3rd, junior Erin Gonterman 4th 44:33, senior Sydney Kyker 5th 44:41, and freshman Caitlin Roberts 7th 45:40.

Saturday showed other impressive achievements with freshman Alli Silas in the 100 meter dash getting 8th place and running a time of 14.10. In the 200 meter dash, sophomore Kierra Moore placed 5th with a 27.91 followed by Rebecca Dixon who placed 8th and ran 28:39. Freshman Kaylee Robinson finished 4th and was also just shy of a school record in the 400m with a time of 1:00.53. Senior Annah Pierce placed 8th in the 100m hurdles, running 17.52.

In the 800 meter race Berea College brought a full crew lead by sophomore Jenna Hughes who won the race with a time of 2:28. Senior Gabriella Sabino and freshman Delany William followed her, finishing 7th and 8th, running 2:36 and 2:37. Freshman Jamie Welch led the way through the 1500 meter race, placing 3rd with a time of 5:07. Gabriella Sabino and Jenna Hughes had another impressive race with Gabriella placing 5th and Jenna placing 6th, with times of 5:14 and 5:16. In the 3000 Steeple freshman Ivanna Sabino placed 1st running a 12:45, followed by senior Megan Hale who earned 3rd , running a time of 13:27.

Our 4x100 (Dixson, Silas, Robinson, Moore) and 4x400 (Hughes, Robinson, Dixson, Hale) relay teams both place 3rd.  Freshman Allison Dallman placed 4th in high jump, jumping 1.52m. Sophomore Kierra Moore placed 6th in the long jump and 6th with a distance of 4.73m and 6th in the triple with a distance of 9.64m.

The women's track and field team will compete next week on Saturday, April 1st in Danville, KY at Centre College in the Centre College Invitational.
