Kaylee Robinson Breaks 400m School Record Leads Mountaineers to 6th place Finish at Centre Twilight

DANVILLE, KY – This past weekend, the Berea College's women's track and field team competed in their 5th outdoor competition of the season and their 2nd meet at Centre College. At this year's Centre Twilight Meet, the women as a team placed 6th overall and scored a total of 66 points. Personal records (PRs) will be indicated with (*) next to the performance time of each athlete.

Starting the evening off with the 3000 meter steeplechase, freshman Ivanna Sabino (12:37.85) and junior Erin Gonterman (12:58.09)* placed 2nd and 3rd scoring a combined total of 14 points for the Berea women. The distance runners continued to make their presence known in the 5000 meter run with three individuals contributing another 14 points to the women. With nearly a 35 second lead, sophomore Emily DeNigris wins the 5k and single-handedly earns 10 points for the women with a time of 18:44.53*. Following not too far behind was senior Gabriella Sabino (20:07.56) in 6th place and freshman Hayley Clark (20:35.44) in 8th place. As for the mid-distance events, the women didn't shy away from competing here as well. Freshman Jamie Welch placed 6th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:55.64*. Welch (2:26.26)* also placed 7th in the 800m finishing in between senior Megan Hale (2:25.05)* who placed 6th and freshman Delaney Williams (2:28.67)* who placed 8th. These three who crossed the finish back-to-back-to-back added another 6 points to the women.

Sprint events brought in nearly half of the points for the women. The women's 4x100m relay earned 5th place overall with a final time of 51.33. The team was composed of freshman Alli Silas, sophomore Rebecca Dixon, freshman Kaylee Robinson, and sophomore Kierra Moore. The women's 4x400m relay team placed 2nd with a time of 4:07.77. The team included senior Megan Hale, sophomore Jenna Hughes, freshman Kaylee Robinson, and freshman Delaney Williams. It should also be noted that Robinson ran an impressive 58 second split as the third leg of the relay. The relay team is just 0.08 seconds away from breaking the school record in the 4x400 which is 4:07.69. Robinson also placed 3rd overall in the 400m dash with a time of 59.69* which is not only a PR for her, but is now the new official school record for Berea College's women's outdoor track 400 meter dash. 

Jumps and hurdles made their presence known as well. In the 100m hurdles, senior Annah Pierce placed 8th with a time of 16.83. Pierce also placed 6th in the women's long jump with a final jump of 4.84 meters. Freshman Allison Dallman was runner-up in the women's high jump with a final jump of 1.57 meters.

The women will compete in their next competition on Saturday, April 22nd at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY.
