Berea College Women’s T&F Continues their good form at Bellarmine Invitational

Louisville, KY- Competing against NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NCAA Division III teams, The Women's Berea College Track and Field team held their own against tough competition by once again breaking PRs in the  Bellarmine Invitational hosted by NCAA Division II Bellarmine University.

The sprinters continued their record-breaking start to the season by Khatriah Malik, Kaylee Robinson, and Cassie McFadden all breaking their colligate PR's in the 100 meter dash. Freshman Khatriah Malik, set her overall PR with a time of 12.70, while Sophomore Kaylee Robinson and Senior Cassie McFadden set their colligate PRs with times of 12.78 and 12.89 respectively. Senior Kierra Moore also had a strong showing in the 100 meter dash with a time 13.27. Freshmen Zita Erez, Wendy Quanon, and Hajar Mouchtahi rounded out the 100 meter dash for Berea. The 4x100 team, consisted of Malik, McFadden, Moore, and Robinson, was not able to break their own record for the 3 straight meet, but were able to post a solid time of 49.56. In the 200m dash, Kaylee Robinson also ran very well by posting a time of 27.47, along with Sophomore Alli Sillas, who posted a time of 28.44. The 200 meter dash was rounded out by Sophomore Allison Dallman who ran a time of 30.40, Freshmen Zita Erez with a time of 31.78, and Freshmen Wendy Quanon who posted a time of 34.54.

The distance runners also continued their good form to start the season as well. The 800 meter run was led by Sophomore Delaney Williams with a time of 2:25.16. Right behind her was Junior Jenna Hughes and Freshman Abigail Schlenker with solid times of 2:30.39 and 2:30.44. The 800 meter run consisted of 6 more Berea College athletes, Junior Dove DeNigris, Freshman Rachel Melstead, Freshman Tylan Eastham, Sophomore Caitlyn Roberts, Freshman Sydney Shackleford, and Junior Brittany Ortiz-Perez. In the 1500m run the Mountaineers had 3 finishing in the top 10, with Abigail Schlenker leading the way with a time of 4:51.55. Behind her was Delaney Williams and Dove DeNigris with times of 5:00.47 and 5:06.50 respectively. Also competing in the 1500m run were Tylan Eastham, Caitlyn Roberts, Rachel Melstead, Brittany Ortiz-Perez, and Sydney Shackleford. The 5000m run also had a strong showing from the Mountaineers with Sophomore Hayley Clark posting a time of 19:56.47, followed by Junior Ivanna Sabino and Seinor Erin Gonterman with times of 19:58.50 and 20:11.18 respectively.

In the hurdles, Freshman Destinee Henry had another good showing by posting a time of 16.79 in the 100 meter dash. Junior Kearston Tingle also competed in the event in posted a time of 20.02. In the High Jump, Allison Dallman finished 3rd in the event with a jump of 1.55m. In the Women's shotput, Sophomore Maya Riddles threw a distance of 9.69m. She also competed in the Javelin throw and recorded a distance of 15.77m.

The Mountaineers will back in action in the Centre Twilight Meet on April 13th.
