Shawn Jakubowski returns to his Alma Mater to as the Head Men’s and Women’s Track Head Coach and the Head Women’s Cross Country Coach. Coach Jakubowski is now entering his 4th year as the Head Men’s and Women’s Track Head Coach and the Head Women’s Cross Country Coach. He looks forward to moving into NCAA Division III and competing in USA South for XC and the Atlantic Independent for Track and Field.

So far in his 2 years at Berea College, Shawn has nothing but produce All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, and win USCAA Coach of the Year. In his first year back, the Women’s XC squad won the USCAA National Tournament in 2015, including having 2 first team All-Americans and 1 second team All- American. In his second year, a young Women’s XC squad finished runner-up at the USCAA National championship and produced 2 more second team All-Americans. In track and field, Coach Jakubowski has been part of numerous amount of PRs and school records being broken and having over 15 Academic All-Americans on his squad in the past two years.

Before coming back to Berea College, Coach Jakubowski won 2 women’s track and field AAC conference championship (2013/2015) and back to back men’s AAC track and field championships (2014-2015), and each time, he was named AAC Track and Field Coach of the Year at Tennessee Wesleyan. He also had 2 runner-up finishes at the AAC conference meet. He has also coached the TWC men to a 15th place team finish at the 2015 Indoor NAIA national Championships and a 23rd place finish at the 2015 NAIA outdoor championships. In the 2015 NAIA Outdoor championships TWC had 2 women finish top 5 in the marathon (3rd and 5th), those finishes helped the TWC women earn a 28th place team finish. While at TWC he has coached 36 conference champions, 32 track and field national qualifiers, 14 NAIA All Americans and 1 National Champion in the indoor 60 meter. In cross country the men won the AAC conference championship in 2014 and Jakubowski was named AAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. In 2012-2013 they finished runner up in the AAC Conference championships. The men have compete twice in the NAIA national championship finishing 17th in 2013 and 11th in 2014. The women’s teams have finished runner up in the AAC conference meet in the 2013-2014 seasons.   In 2014 the women’s cross country program earned an at large bid to the NAIA national championships where they placed 25th.  Total Coach Jakubowski has had 26 NAIA cross country national qualifiers and 1 AAC Individual conference champion.

Shawn did his undergraduate work at Berea College and was a member of the current Berea record holding 4x800m relay team. That team finished 5th at nationals earning Shawn first team All-American honors.  

He then went on to Eastern Kentucky University and got a Masters in Sports Administration.  He also has his USATF Level 1 and Level 2.  His Level 2 is in sprints, hurdles, relays.  Shawn and his son Hayden live in Berea.
