Berea, KY. – The Berea women's volleyball team travelled to Maryville, TN to play Maryville College Tuesday night at the Boydson Baird Gym. The Mountaineers struggled to find consistency on both sides of the game and the Scots took advantage to sweep the Mountaineers in three straight sets.

The Mountaineers started the first set off slow by falling into a 13-3 deficit. This deficit was self-inflicted by the Mountaineers with a shaky defense and costly errors. However, during the end of the set, The Mountaineers went on a 7-0 run, with Maryville winning the first set 25-16.

The second set was much more competitive than the first. In a tightly contested set, Maryville never conceded the lead, but Berea was right behind Maryville, not being more than 3 points behind them during the set until the end. However, costly errors and an inconsistent defense costed the Mountaineers another loss.

The Scots had a commanding start to the third match, opening with a 5-0 point lead. Berea was outplayed the whole set until The Mountaineers came roaring back with a 9-2 run to get the set to 23-18 Maryville. However, a costly error and a kill by the Maryville offense ended the momentum and gave The Scots a 25-19 win in set 3.

Berea's defense was led by Addie Bowman who contributed 10 digs, while Jonsey McGregor added 6 more for the Mountaineers. Addie Bowman led the Mountaineer offense with 5 kills and Kristen Barnes and Katherine Gonterman following close behind with 4. McGregor tallied 10 assists and Robles added 5.

The Mountaineers will take the court again on Saturday to face conference rivals Piedmont College at Piedmont at 12:00 PM EST.
