Berea, KY – The Berea volleyball team fell to Covenant College in 3 straight sets Wednesday night with scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-14.

The first set was back and forth between the teams with six lead changes. Covenant took control after a 16-16 score with nine straight points. Errors would set the Mountaineers back enough, and that allowed the Scots to cruise to a 25-16 first set win.

Covenant started the set with a 10-4 lead before Berea battled back to get to a 13-10 score. The Scots picked it up and forced multiple errors on the Mountaineers' side of the net along with kills from several Scots to take the set 25-15.

The Mountaineers where able to clean up most of the miscues in the third set, but Covenant was too much for them. Almost anytime Berea would set up for a kill, it was blocked right down to their feet by Covenant's Alexa Spurling or Allie Jakes. The Scots continued their scoring way and finished the sweep with a 25-14 win.

Three different Mountaineers had five kills each including Kristin Barnes, Carolina Robles and Hannah Headrick. Jonesy McGregor tallied 18 assists and picked up five digs. Headrick led the defense with 17 digs, while Barnes and Robles each tacked on 12.

Berea will travel down to LaGrange College Saturday, October 6 for a tri-match with the host, LaGrange and Agnes Scott. First match starts at 12:00 p.m. followed for their second at 2:00 p.m.
