The Berea College volleyball team competed in a USA South conference tri-match against both Brevard College and Piedmont College at Maryville, TN. The Mountaineers started the day off with a clean win against Brevard College 3-0 but fell short in the second match of the day losing against Piedmont College 3-0.
In the first match for Berea, the Mountaineers beat Brevard in straight sets: 25-14, 25, 25-22, and 25-22, with the Tornados putting up a fight the last two rounds trying to close in on a win. Freshman Adrienne Roberts led the game with 32 assists along with sophomore Carolina Robles who had 17 digs and 6 kills and senior Bailie Parker who had 18 digs.
In the second match for Berea, Piedmont college won in straight sets: 25-23, 25:22, and 26-24. The match was very close and intense with the Mountaineers following closely behind the Lions. Just like the first game, the match was led by freshman Adrienne Roberts who had 26 assists as well as sophomore Carolina Robles who had 12 kills and 14 digs, sophomore Allana Knowles with 10 kills and senior Bailie Parker with 14 digs.
The Mountaineers will kick-off with a match against Maryville College at home, Wednesday, October 23. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm. The team will recognize their seniors at this game.
