Mountaineers Finish Third at Berea Invitational

In a very close team battle only eleven points separated the top three teams.  Centre took the overall team champion with 38 points.  Tennessee Wesleyan finished second with 44 points and Berea was a very close third scoring 49 points.  Campbellsville and Georgetown (KY) rounded out the top 5 with 132 and 134 points.  The Mountaineers posted an impressive team time of 1:42:26 and a team average of 20:29.

2015 USCAA National Runner-Up Dove DeNigris lead the Mountaineers this weekend with a 6th place finish and a time 20:09.  Berea claimed the 8th, 9th and 10th positions with freshman Jamie Welch leading the pack running a time of 20:14.  USCAA runner of the week Erin Gonterman placed 9th with a time of 20:28 and Senior Gabriella Sabino took 10th with a time of 20:30.  Freshman Ivanna Sabino rounded out the scoring for the Mountaineers with a 16th place finish and a time of 21:03. 

Other finishers for the Mountaineers included Caitlyn Roberts finishing 18th with a time of 21:11, Delaney Williams in 20th (21:19), Hayley Clark 24th (21:35), Jenna Hughes 25th (21:38), Sydney Kyker 37th (22:29), Megan Hale 53rd (23:25), Olamide Adejuma 54th (23:25), Kendra Humphrey 74th (25:45), Meghan Kramer 77th (25:55), Monica Galic 82nd (27:00) and Esther Omolola in 99th (34:13).

The Mountaineers will take a week off before heading to the Greater Louisville Classic on October 1st.
