Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at the BC/CC Jamboree

Berea, KY – The women's cross country team opened up their season at home with the 2nd annual Berea/Centre College Jamboree. The Mountaineers finished second out of six scoring teams behind Centre College. Annie Rodenfels from Centre College won the 2 mile race while setting a course record with a time of 11:18. The Mountaineers put four runners in the top 20 leading with sophomore Delaney Williams (12:15) finishing 5th place overall. Following closely behind was sophomore Jamie Welch finishing 6th (12:21), and junior Dove DeNigris finishing 8th (12:26). Freshman, Abigail Schlenker finished in 17th place with a time of 13:00.  Rounding out the scoring for Berea was senior Erin Gonterman finishing a time of 13:06 finishing 21st.

Other finishers included junior, Jenna Hughes 23rd (13:09), sophomore, Hayley Clark 27th  (13:22), sophomore, Caitlyn Roberts 31st (13:37), freshman, Rachael Melstead 38th (14:16), senior, Asia Foster 42nd (14:23), freshman, Tylan Eastham 43rd (14:26), freshman, Sydney Shackleford 47th (14:36), freshman, Saralisa Jackson 51st (14:45), sophomore, April Fellows 54th (14:59), sophomore, Riley Lanham 55th (15:03), sophomore, Jillian Kendall 66th (15:53), and junior, Brena Griffin 70th (17:27).

After the final scoring, Berea College and Centre College were scored separate as a duel meet and the winner was awarded "The Cup." The trophy will stay with the Colonels for the second year.

The Mountaineers will stay on their home course next week, Saturday September 16, as they host the Coach Johnson and Mary Kay Invitational. The women's team races at 10am followed by the men's race at 11.
