Mountaineers Fight Through Mud to Finish 8th in the #JennaStrong Classic

Wilmington, OH – The Berea College women's cross country team traveled to Wilmington College to compete in the #JennaStrong Fall Classic.  This was the Mountaineers last race of the season before entering the post sesaon. Berea ran against 32 teams this weekend and finished 8th place overall with an average time of 20:50. Scoring only NCAA Division 3 teams, the Mountaineers placed 2nd. There were a total of 300 women that completed this muddy 5K course.  

Leading off for the Mountaineers was sophomore Jamie Welch placing 46th with a time of 20:10. Following close behind in a pack were junior Emily DeNigris and freshmen Abigail Schlenker placing 61st and 62nd with times of 20:35 and 20:41. Next to cross the line for the Mountaineers was sophomore Delaney Williams placing 93rd with a time of 21:15. To round out the scoring for Berea was senior Erin Gonterman placing 106th with a time of 21:27.

Other finishers for Berea were Ivanna Sabino (114th) with a time of 21:39, Haley Clark (120) with a time of 21:44, Caitlyn Roberts (144th) with a time of 22:17, Jenna Hughes (158th) with a time of 22:36, Tylan Eastham (202nd) with a time of 23:30. Some more finishers were Asia Foster (209th) with a time of 23:38, Sydney Shackelford (211th) with a time of 23:44, April Fellows (245th) with a time of 25:17, Jillian Kendall (248th) with a time of 25:23, and Brena Griffin (248th) with a time of 30:01.

The Berea cross country teams will travel to Tallulah Falls, GA on Saturday, October 28th to compete in the USA South Conference Championships meet.
