Women Finish 12th at Jenna Strong

WILMINGTON, OHIO-

Over the weekend the Mountaineers travelled to Wilmington, Ohio to compete in the Jenna Strong Invitational. The women had a strong team performance, including multiple athletes obtaining personal records on the 5k course. Berea averaged a season-best 20:11 and earned a total team score of 300 points to place 12th out of 33 teams.

The first Mountaineer across the line was senior Jamie Welch who placed 16th  out of 316 runners with a time of 19:07. Following Welch was sophomore Mary Beth Melhuish who finished in 20:19 to place 57th. The third Berea runner to cross was senior Caitlyn Roberts in 20:33 to place 71st. Rounding out the scorers for the Mountaineers was senior Ivanna Sabino placing 75th in 20:35 and sophomore Bethany Bigler placing 96th in 20:57. Other finishers for Berea included senior Jenna Hughes in 21:25, junior Tylan Eastham in 21:29, junior Saralisa Jackson in 22:29, freshman Diana Angel Espinoza in 22:57, and senior Brittany Ortiz- Perez in 23:22.

Next up for Berea is the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College on October 19th.
