Mountaineers Finish 10th at NCAA Regionals

Memphis, TN.- Over the weekend the Mountaineers travelled to Memphis to compete in the NCA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships. The meet was hosted by Rhodes College. Berea averaged an impressive school-record average 23:50 over the 6K course to earn 10th place out of 33 teams. This was the women's highest finish in school history at the Regional Championships.

Leading the Mountaineers, and earning All-Region Team honors, was senior Jamie Welch. Welch finished 30th in a time of 22:57. Closely following Welch in 23:06 to place 37th was sophomore Mary Beth Melhuish. The next Mountaineer across the line was senior Ivanna Sabino placing 71st in  23:55. Following Sabino was junior Rachel Bates in 24:25 to place 96th. Senior Jenna Hughes rounded out the top 5 finishers for Berea with a time 24:40 to place 104th. Also competing for Berea was senior Hayley Clark finishing 137th in 25:32 and sophomore Bethany Bigler finishing 151st in 25:51.

The regional meet concludes the season for the women. Look to see many of the athletes back competing on the track this Winter and Spring.
