BEREA, KY- The Berea Baseball team hosted conference opponent Greensboro College Friday evening for a weekend series against the Lions. Berea played two games Saturday in a double-header with the conference rival. The weekend also featured multiple Berea College Athletic events as part of the nationally celebrated DIII week. Berea was unable to pick up a much needed victory and have now dropped their record to 7-22 and 3-15 in conference play.



Game 1 featured Berea's T.C. Eads as the starting pitcher. The righty tossed 5.1 innings before the ball was given to Zach Perrin. He came into relive 1.2 innings. Aaron Duncan and Logan Gayheart then pitched the last two innings. Offensively Berea recorded 3 runs on 9 hits. T.C. Eads and Nick Bottom each had 2 hits, and Bottom produced an RBI. Jordan Beard, Bryce Wallingford, Tanner Crowe, Cam Dacci, and Andrew Akins also had a hit each.


The second contest saw Josh Wilson tossing the leather. The senior lefty threw a competitive 5 innings. Brendan Grider, then came onto record the next 4 innings. The Mountaineers managed only 4 hits in the 9 inning contest. The Mountaineers dropped game 2, 7-0.


The Sunday finale saw ace, Griffen Norris on the bump. He pitched a solid 6.1 innings; Dylan Sallee, was in relief, where he pitched 3.2 innings. 3 Mountaineers logged multi-hit games (Bryce Zachary 3, Jordan Beard 2, and Tanner Crowe 2). Other hits came from T.C. Eads, Baylor Manier, Andrew Akins, Nick Bottom, Cam Dacci, and Seth Wallingford. Despite out-hitting the Lions (13-11), the Mountaineers couldn't pull out the victory in extras. Berea was defeated 5-4.     


The men will be looking for redemption when they host conference rival, Maryville College, this coming weekend. The series will begin Friday at 7:00pm, and will feature a game each of the following two days.
