Mountaineers Finish 2nd at NCAA Regionals

Memphis, TN.- Over the weekend the Mountaineers travelled to Rhodes College in Memphis to compete in the NCAA Division III South/Southeastern Regional Championships. The men averaged 25:45 over the 8K course and scored a team total of 94 points to earn 2nd place out of 36 teams. Berea's runner-up finish was the highest finish at the Regional Championships in school history. With that finish, the men also automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships making this the second year in a row the men have gone to Nationals.

Leading the Mountaineers was sophomore Sair Salgado finishing in 10th place in 25:24. Following Salgado was senior Tanner Carson placing 16th in 25:42 and freshman Luke Wilson placing 17th in 25:44. The next Mountaineers across the line was sophomore Tyler Little in 25:51 to place 22nd. Rounding out the top five for Berea was senior Logan McKenzie placing 29th in 26:00. With their top 35 finishes, Salgado, Carson, Wilson, Little, and McKenzie all earned All-Region Team honors. Also competing for the Mountaineers was sophomore Avery Fair finishing 38th in 26:18 and senior Caleb Flege finishing 162nd in 28:37.

Berea will travel to Tom Sawyer State Park on Saturday November 23rd to compete in the National Championships. The team will look to improve upon their impressive 24th place team finish from last year.
