Berea Splits Tri-Match

LOOKOUT MT., GA., -- The Berea College Volleyball team split their tri-match on the road against USA South West Division opponents Covenant College and Agnes Scott College. They lost 3-2 against Covenant College, but were able to defeat Agnes Scott College 3-0 to split the tri-match.

Covenant Escapes Berea

Preseason #1, Covenant College snapped their 3 game losing streak by defeating Berea College in 5 sets. The Mountaineers missing still missing their top attackers, were able to take Covenant College to the edge but ultimately lost in the 5th set after a valiant effort on the road. The Mountaineers were out-killed 54-51, out-assisted 49-48, and out-blocked 7-2. The Mountaineers also committed 29 errors compared to the Scots 19. The Mountaineers however out served the Scots, recording 14 aces and only 9 errors in the 5 set match.

The Mountaineers were led by Carolina Robles with 17 kills and 22 digs, Hannah Headrick with 14 kills and 9 digs, and Adrienne Roberts who had 41 assists.

Berea Rolls Past Agnes Scott

A rematch of a contest earlier in the season, the Mountaineers again beat the Scotties 3-0 in their matchup. In the 3-set matchup, the Scotties pushed the Mountaineers in each of the sets, with the Mountaineers winning 27-25, 25-19, and 25-21. The Mountaineers out-killed their opponents 41 to 37, out-assisted 40-37, and out-served their opponents recording 10 serve aces. However, the Scots out-blocked the Mountaineers, 6-4 and committed less attacking errors.

The Mountaineers were led by Carolina Robles with 15 kills and 11 digs, Vanessa Ramic with 14 kills, and Adrienne Roberts with 36 assists.


The Mountaineers will be back in action Saturday, October 5th in a tri-match against Piedmont College and Brevard College at home in the Seabury Center. The first game is set for 10:00 AM.
